Hiking To Marble Falls

On Saturday the Panama Ward young men and young women, plus a few extras were able to get up at 6am and travel to Sequoia National Forest to go hiking.  Here is a picture of us on our way up the 4mile trail to the falls.  Notice that everyone still looks good.
It took us a little less than 2 hours to make it up to the falls.  Once we got there we were starving so we all settled on this huge marble rock to eat our lunches.
After we all finished our lunches Bishop took a group who was willing to climb some rocks up to the top of the waterfall.  It a lot of rocks but once we got to the top it was totally worth it.  Here is a picture of the group about half way up to the top of the falls.
YAY!!! I made it to the top! (with only one little slip up).  I was almost to the top when I lost my footing on one of the rocks and slammed my knee into another rock.  It hurt a little then bit is killing me today.  But oh well the view was worth it and I heal fast.
It was probably the best hike I have been on.  I had so much fun. Life is an accomplishment.
Bishop and Lokio thought that making bunny ears was fun.
Kaitlyn was quite adventurous on our hike.  Here she is trying not to slip of a wet rock into the freezing water.  She is pretty amazing, I would have slipped for sure.
I was so proud of my brother, we both made it to the top!
The falls are massive and beautiful.
When we started back down the mountain it started to rain, nothing awful but still wet.  As the trek down the mountain continued the rain went from a sprinkle to a full out downpour.  It was more like we slid down the mountain with all the mud.  We became absolutely soaked to the bone by the time we made it back to the bottom of the mountain.   Here we are at the bottom.  I have already taken off my top layer since my undershirt was semi dry and I have a towel on my head because I was in the middle of trying to dry off.  It was an amazing day a it really made me realize how beautiful nature is.  On our way down the mountain I was trying not to think of the negatives of being so wet and it came to me that climbing that mountain is a lot like life.  We may have a little difficulty but life isn't always easy sometimes we get caught in the rain.  But just as we did yesterday on the hike we should do in life.  Laugh!  There was nothing we could do about being wet.  It made the trip even more memorable.

  3. If I was a real man I would have gone on that hike. Oh well, I will have to live with the knowledge that I am not a real man. At least my thighs didn't kill me for a week.
